Our relationship
The relationship you have with your psychologist is almost, if not more important that the tools and techniques you use together.
I pride myself on fostering a warm, collaborative and supporting relationship with my clients. My priority is creating a safe, non-judgemental space where meaningful change can occur through curiosity, understanding and connection. I'm a psychologist who brings their personality and authenticity into the room, and at times a bit of humour where needed.
Having worked across diverse settings in both Australia and abroad, I bring a culturally sensitive and inclusive perspective to my practice.
A bit about my approach
My aim for therapy is not to “fix” who you are, but to better understand the many parts of yourself and the patterns that shape your inner world. The experiences we have, how we interpret these, and the stories we tell ourselves shape the way we view ourselves, and our relationship with others and the world. These narratives influence how we engage with life, what we do, what we don’t do, and the limits we put on ourselves.
I strive to not only provide practical strategies for the here and now, but also uncover and change longstanding patterns that may be contributing to distress and holding you back. A another focus of our work will be to apply balance, identifying and strengthening the parts of you that already have resilience and insight.
I apply evidence-based treatment with a deeply human approach. Everyone has individual experiences, strengths and challenges, and your treatment needs to be treated as such. Therapy should never be a one-size-fits-all approach. Depending on your goals, I draw from a range of evidence-based treatments such as CBT, schema therapy, EDMR and attachment based approaches, personalising them to you and personality. The therapy space
What is therapy & what can I expect?
Seeking support for your mental health is a meaningful investment in yourself and your wellbeing. Just as we care for our physical health, our emotional and psychological wellbeing also deserves attention, care and understanding. Therapy provides a supportive and confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences. Identifying patterns of strength to bolster, alongside uncovering and changing unhelpful coping that might be contributing to distress. Together the work can help you better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges, develop practical coping strategies, creating meaningful change for your wellbeing and those around you. Therapy is not about simply talking at or listening to one another. It is a collaborative and active process, build on trust and curiosity. In sessions we will: 1. Talk and reflect on situations, thoughts, emotions, and people together. 2. Identify and address patterns of distress that are occurring for you in the here and now and make meaningful change so that your days can feel lighter and more manageable 3. Uncover where these patterns came from, peeling back the layers to get a better understanding of the why. This is where deeper insight and more lasting change takes place. 4. Explore the connection between your experience, your thoughts, emotions, and connecting to your body. 5. Think of it as a whole person-care – backed by evidence, trauma informed approaches and delivered with honesty and warmth. There is no “right” way to do therapy as it is very personalised to each person. We will work collaboratively together, using evidence-based treatments that are applied to you in a creative and considered way so that your therapy is bespoke for your needs, goals and personality.
When should I seek support?
There is no “right” or “wrong” time to begin therapy. People seek support for many different reasons and at many different stages of life. For some, therapy provides support during periods of crisis, overwhelm or emotional distress. For others, it can be a proactive space to navigate life transitions, strengthen coping skills, build resilience and better prepare for upcoming challenges or changes. Therapy can also be incredibly valuable when life is going well. When we are not in immediate survival mode, there is often greater capacity for deeper reflection, self-exploration and personal growth. This can create space to better understand yourself, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and develop the insight and skills that support a more meaningful and aligned life.
